My Ceviche

Not sure if I've mentioned My Ceviche is passing (perhaps as a reference to only in Miami would you have a fast food ceviche chain), but here's a brief review.

Lauren and I go to My Ceviche on a regular basis. There's one only a few blocks from our apartment and it's a great light dinner we can get for $15 pp. It's like ordering at Chipotle. You pick your form (cevicheceviche over rice, or ceviche over lettuce), your seafood (fish, shrimp, octopus (!), or combo), and your sauce (traditional, rocoto, coconut, etc.). The seafood is always fresh and the sauces from good to very good. Your order comes with a side of seasoned popcorn. Additionally, they have a sauce bar with several sauces above and beyond what is used in the ceviche preparation. Of the side dishes, our particular favorite is the tostones, which always come out hot and topped with pickled red onions and queso fresco.

Bonus: Bertoni Gelato

This gelato place recently opened up a few blocks from our apartment (incidentally, in a building with a robotic parking garage that doesn't work). It is actually more of a cafe, as they are open from breakfast through dinner and serve a variety of cafe style foods as well as coffee.  But, they do serve gelato. Lauren had a gelato with chocolate and hazelnut. The gelato was of excellent quality, though pricey (a small was $5.98 + tax). I had a sfogliatella, which reminds me of a fried croissant stuffed with sweetened ricotta. That was excellent, though it cost $3.69 + tax.
