Doc B's Fresh Kitchen
Hi Uncle Steve,
The other day, Lauren and I headed up for Fort Lauderdale for a show that my mother had gifted me tickets for. Beforehand, we had dinner at the nearby Doc B's Fresh Kitchen. It's a small chain of high-end contemporary American restaurants. Think Seasons 52, but brighter.
Lauren began with a glass of their drier rosé, Wolfer Estate. I had a beer a saison from the Miami-based Biscayne Bay brewing.
We began with the oven roasted cauliflower: golden cauliflower and green cauliflower, with a pesto aoili, golden raisins, and marcona almonds. It was delicious and was gone in a flash.
(And no, green cauliflower is not broccoli. It's the texture.).
For our main course, Lauren had a lobster roll, which was the best she's ever had. Maine lobster, all knuckle and claw. Classic New England roll. Stone mustard slaw with crushed peanuts. And side mashed potatoes.
I had The Number Six (there are many #1's on the menu, but no idea where 2-5 are). Spicy crispy chicken on a soft roll. Two large pickle slices. And a habanero-honey barbecue sauce on one side and a roasted garlic dressing on the other. And on the side: a roasted beet and heirloom tomato salad with burrata.
Overall, an excellent meal for an excellent price. We learned they're opening a location in Coral Gables and are very excited to add it to our regular list.
