Morgan's
Hi Uncle Steve,
This isn't one of my regular restaurant reviews as I didn't use your gift card on it, but it was so good, I had to write.
The restaurant is Morgan's, located in Midtown Miami (think north of Wynwood, south of the Design District). The restaurant is housed in a big, old white cottage and has quite a bit of patio seating.
With our coffees, we started by splitting a sticky bun. It was ooey, gooey and very good for helping that first cup of coffee down.
For a Main course, I had chicken and waffles and they were fantastic. Unusual for the dish, the chicken consisted of very thing strips of chicken breasts, which has clearly been hand breaded on site just before ordering.
Lauren has the real star though which was called the Frenchman. This breakfast sandwich consisted of fried eggs, over easy, arugula, Boursin cheese and ham on a French style hoagie roll (for lack of a better description). The eggs alone would have been a fantastic dish (they were fried over low heat in extra virgin olive oil and lightly but perfectly seasoned), but bringing it all together was outstanding. We took half of it home and it was still fantastic the next day.
All in all, a gem of a restaurant which given its price and location, will become a regular for us.
