[On the Road]: Après Handcrafted Libations

Hi Uncle Steve, Least you think that there is any correlation between the quality of an establishment and the length of time it takes me to write a review, let me dispel them.  In late March, I had the pleasure of taking a quick jaunt out to Breckenridge, Colorado for a ski trip with my sister. On my first day out, while still waiting for her arrival, I had the pleasure of visiting Après Handcrafted Libations, whose drinks are as good as its name is long. ... It's always difficult to write a review for what is essentially a bar (and for things that are bars). It is necessarily a subset of what I generally write about and, as such, has a far more limited vocabulary and well of experience from which to draw upon. And I don't think, for Après, I'll even bother trying to review the cocktail the bartender improvised for me (other than to say it was an old fashioned with maple syrup and four kinds of house-made bitters, including their famous and tongue-tingling ha...

Doc B's Fresh Kitchen

Hi Uncle Steve, The other day, Lauren and I headed up for Fort Lauderdale for a show that my mother had gifted me tickets for. Beforehand, we had dinner at the nearby Doc B's Fresh Kitchen. It's a small chain of high-end contemporary American restaurants. Think Seasons 52, but brighter.

Hi Uncle Steve, Lauren and I picked up a quick midweek lunch at gigi (stylized lowercase) in Midtown Miami. I'd call it an old standby, as we've been there before and love it, but we just don't go there enough.

Dr. Smood

Hi Uncle Steve, Quick post here about Dr. Smood. Was putzing around with friends this afternoon in Brickell and we ended up in the new Dr. Smood location in the Brickell City Centre. Dr. Smood is a (and I'm stretching this) chain of cafes in New York City and the sixth borough, Miami, focusing on healthy food: Juice, smoothies, sandwiches, etc.

Hi Uncle Steve, Too much food in too little time, after our meal at Brava the night before followed by Yo Yo Ma, I touched base with a friend who asked about dinner. I was picking Lauren up from work and, based on his request for sake, we suggested Sumi Yakitori.
